Votre bébé cette semaine

Inside the ovary, one dominant follicle is maturing rapidly and preparing to release an egg — this is the follicular phase in full swing. The egg, or oocyte, is surrounded by protective cells and is growing to about 20 mm in diameter within its follicle. Ovulation typically occurs near the end of this week or early next week, triggered by a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH). Once released, the egg will travel into the fallopian tube where it can survive for 12-24 hours awaiting fertilization. Your body is producing more cervical mucus that becomes clear and stretchy (like egg whites), creating an ideal environment for sperm to travel.

Ce que vous pouvez ressentir

Estrogen levels are climbing steadily, which may give you a boost of energy and a sense of well-being. You might notice changes in cervical mucus — it becomes thinner, clearer, and more slippery as ovulation approaches. Some women experience mild ovulation pain (called mittelschmerz) — a slight twinge or cramp on one side of the lower abdomen. Your sex drive may naturally increase around this time, which is nature's way of encouraging conception. Basal body temperature is still at its baseline but will spike slightly after ovulation occurs.

Symptômes courants

  • Your period ends and you may feel a boost in energy as estrogen rises.
  • Cervical mucus becomes clearer and more slippery near ovulation.
  • Mild one-sided pelvic twinge (mittelschmerz) around ovulation day.

Conseils de la semaine

This is your most fertile window — having intercourse every 1-2 days around ovulation maximizes your chances of conception. Consider using ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) to detect the LH surge that precedes egg release by 24-36 hours. Continue taking your prenatal vitamin with folic acid every day without fail. Stay well-hydrated and reduce stress through gentle exercise, meditation, or other relaxation techniques. Avoid lubricants that may impair sperm motility — if needed, use fertility-friendly options.

Bien manger

  • Boost omega-3 intake with salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds to support egg quality.
  • Eat antioxidant-rich berries, bell peppers, and sweet potatoes.
  • Limit caffeine to under 200 mg per day if you are trying to conceive.

Point nutrition

  • Continue 400–800 mcg folic acid daily; it takes weeks to build optimal levels.
  • Consider a prenatal vitamin with DHA for early brain development support.

Bien-être au quotidien

  • Track basal body temperature each morning to pinpoint ovulation.
  • Moderate exercise like brisk walking improves blood flow to reproductive organs.
  • Reduce alcohol intake — even moderate drinking can lower fertility.

Pour votre partenaire

Keep the atmosphere at home relaxed and romantic — stress can negatively impact fertility for both partners. Avoid hot baths, saunas, and tight underwear, as excessive heat can temporarily reduce sperm quality. Stay physically active and eat a nutritious diet rich in zinc, selenium, and antioxidants to support healthy sperm. Be emotionally present and communicative — the trying-to-conceive journey is a team effort, and your support means everything.

Signes à signaler à votre professionnel de santé

  • Absent periods for several months without pregnancy may indicate hormonal issues.
  • Severe mid-cycle pain lasting more than a day warrants medical evaluation.
